Biplanes / Triplanes aircraft which were standing at the cradle of aviation, actively used in the First World War, were operated during the war period, survived and used by all parties at the beginning of the Second World War. Some biplane plastic model kits in the role of liaison and light reconnaissance aircraft took part in low-intensity conflicts without the use of modern air defense weapons up to the mid-1950s. And maybe even longer because there are photos of Vietnamese An-2 aircraft with underwing weapon stations UB-16 for unpiloted missiles, and shooting war in Africa and South America continues to surprise with the variety of types of participating aircraft.
Triplanes were made from standard biplanes by installing additional surfaces to reduce the load to the wings and improve the maneuverability of the aircraft in the horizontal plane. They left the theatre of war immediately after the First World War, because the mentioned above goals designers began to achieve by the implementation of high lift wing devices. For biplane and triplane plastic model kits the most common scales are: 1:32, 1:48, 1:72.
